Fun Facts & Things to Do

There are also many beautiful spots around greater Collie to enjoy what nature has to offer.

Located only 3km south of Collie townsite on Mungalup Road, Minninup Pool is a beautiful and tranquil spot for swimming, fishing and canoeing on a wide stretch of the Collie River. It’s a beautiful location all year round, with winter’s misty mornings making Minninup a popular spot for
photographers. (Toilet facilities available)

And of course, there’s the entire Wellington National Park with its 17,000 hectares of ancient jarrah, marri and blackbutt forest.

Honeymoon Pool is a great spot for swimming, bushwalking, canoeing or kayaking and fishing. There are gas barbecues, picnic tables and a large viewing platform overlooking the river.

The Jabitj Trail, meaning running water in the Noongar language is a 12-kilometre return trail that follows the Collie River between Wellington Dam and Honeymoon Pool in Wellington National Park.  It offers delightful views of the rapids and pools along the way.

Lake Kepwari is located 10km south-east of Collie. The name Lake Kepwari comes from the local Wiilman language ‘Kepwari’ meaning ‘playing in water’. The area is an old mine that has filled with water from the Collie River.
There is a designated water ski area on the lake with a boat ramp and parking for boat trailers. The calm waters are perfect for swimming and canoeing activities or you can try your luck fishing for redfin perch and marron during the season and with a licence. You can enjoy a picnic or barbecue in the shelters overlooking the lake with gas barbecues provided, plus you can camp overnight if you’ve booked ahead. Dogs are allowed on a leash.
