Picnic locations in order of distance from here:

Central Park & Water Playground 7.1 kms

– Dogs allowed on lead
– Toilet facilities
– No Pass Required

Back to the middle of town to the beautiful Central Park. You passed it earlier in your adventure.

Fully accessible all year round, this park in Forest St features grassed picnic areas, electric barbecues, tables and seating, toilets and change rooms as well as the magnificent water playground.

It’s a great place to spend an afternoon whether in the warmer or cooler months.
It also features a covered stage where summer concerts and movie nights are held.

Black Diamond Lake
Distance 11.6 km

– Dogs allowed
– No pass required

Black Diamond Lake is an abandoned mine site that was filled with water after being de-commissioned in the 1950’s. It maintains an incredibly bright azure blue colour when the sun is out due to it’s limestone rock base. It’s become one of the most Instagrammed spots in Collie as the vibrant blue waters allow for stunning backdrops to photos.
Accessible by 2WD and a 4WD track on the alternate side.
No toilet or rubbish facilities so remember to “leave no trace”. No seating, but if you have a picnic blanket or folding chairs you’re set!

The Quarry
Distance 34 kms

– Dogs not allowed
– No Pass Required
– Toilet facilities

The Quarry was formed back in the 1930’s, when material was needed for the construction of the Wellington Dam Wall. The granite face of The Quarry offers a unique backdrop to one of many picnic areas found in the Wellington National Park. Find this popular picnic spot just below the Kiosk at the Dam. It has everything needed for a family picnic with picnic tables, toilets, BBQ’s, parking, shade and a nice grassed area for the kids to run around and play. The granite face of The Quarry is also used for abseiling and rock climbing for those more adventurous.
This can be done by bookings only with the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions.
