Fun Facts & Things to Do

A visit to Donnybrook isn’t complete without exploring its neighbouring town of Balingup.
A must-see there is the Golden Valley Tree Park, WA’s largest arboretum, with 60 ha of exotic and native trees. It’s a superb collection, recently named one of the top 5 locations in Australia to see autumn colours. Other attractions include a tree information gazebo, walk trails, a lookout and the historic Golden Valley Homestead.
The park is beautiful all year round, but we love spring and autumn! On the way, take a quick detour to Balingup’s beautiful Avenue of Honour, with its majestic oaks that honour the 154 local men and women of the region who enlisted for service during the First World War. www.goldenvalleytreepark.org.au

Other great attractions doable as a day trip from Donnybrook are Gnomesville in the Ferguson Valley just 26km or a 20-minute drive away. www.gnomesville.com.au

Then there’s the giant mural painted on the vast wall of the Wellington Dam in Collie – well worth the drive of 39 km or around 30 mins. For the incredible story about this stunning artwork thought to be the largest dam mural in the world go to:
